Facegreet is getting a lot of spam from Senegel in particular. They like Facegreet but unfortunately they are the biggest spammers out there at present and we would prefer If they would go elsewhere. IP information is being logged and accounts removed and banned. Shame. Facegreet was designed for people to have some fun and I guess these spammers have nothing better to do in their life but run programs created and run by teens just to create accounts... and the purpose is....? We have no idea. Oh dear, what is the world coming to?
Anyway, for those of you that enjoy Facegreet we have already taken steps to stop these spammers for good and are working with various other organisations.
No time these days to work on Facegreet. I update the hobby when I have spare time and work has been manic so no time I'm afraid. Have a few ideas but the plan is I implement these some time next year now.

Well all I have had a major break from web development. Too busy I'm afraid. However, I just wanted to share some news and that I bought an IPOD touch from Apple. I knew that it was good device when I bought it but had no idea it was as good as it is. APPLE have done an absolutely marvelous job! I mean I would rate the device 10/10. Slick in every way. The touch screen is absolutely superb and I don't think any other company will even come close to this device. I know a lot of companies are trying but gve up. Apple is miles ahead and I am soooo pleased for Apple. They are an innovative company with loads of ideas. Microsoft take note! You guys might be worth a few billion but have no ideas and just copy others or buy them out. Even the new version of Windows will be similar to the Ipod touch. Get your act together for goodness sake! Maybe though the new Windows will include something special rather than a closer to Apple O/S with Google copied application toolbar and stuff. Surprise us for once.

Saw the film Jumper today. Not a bad film really and better than I thought to a certain extent. I wish I had powers like that with the ability to travel from one place to another. Hate waiting for public transport in London. It is such a waste of my day. I don't drive so rely on public transport every day, even to go to the gym. It has nothing to do with carbon which I feel is just another way for the country to make more money. I didn't think I needed a car but now I am going to get one... and get my lessons booked!
Just a few changes made recently. Updated profile pages to now include buddies on the same page. Next, when you want to add a buddy, you will need to get confirmation from that member going forward is something being looked into. Tell us what you think? I've bought a Nintendo WII and it is due to arrive tomorrow so i would not expect a lot of updates for a while depending on how much fun I get out of it. People have all told my it is a must buy so I got one. Maybe it will get me off Paradise on the XBOX 360. Who knows, but too much work andnot enough play makes me a dull boy so I had to buy one. Also, I hear it helps to keep you fit. Yeh right!

No updates for a while I'm afraid as the Facegreet team have been way too busy. Lead developer, James Mellitas, has been away on holiday but we can promise you all that we have loads coming and are thinking of some new and unique ideas. This is the hardest factor when creating a site. We would also like to hear from anyone with ideas of what you like/dislike and want to see in the future. Facegreet is still a new site which we have not promoted yet as we are not happy enough with it at present. We want it to be the best site out there but we need your suggestions for ideas please.

It can be found on your account page. We have also included a horoscope chart giving you information concerning compatability. Added the chat system today and spiced up te help page to make it dynamic. I like the expandable options on web pages so thought I'd so the same. The cha system is still n deelopment and you need to disable sound to get it working. Sorry about that. The Ecards are almost done.. still in beta as you can tell.
NEW REGISTRATION
Looks like the new captcha code is working a treat on the registration page which is good news. We will also be introducing an email authentication check VERY soon so once you register you will be emailed a code to log into the site. Nothing special we know as all sites do it but we just haven't got round to doing this yet. We ALL hate SPAM and robots and it is a nightmare for admin so good news on this front and I am sure it is equally annoying for our visitors and members.
Expect to see a lot more changes soon. Some may not be that obvious but they'll be there. More features you going to love also coming so keep visiting.
BACK IN LONDON
We are now back in London and are back with a vengeance! Spent 3 weeks in the sun relaxing so coming back to London you could say has been difficult. Back to the cold climate and dreaded London Underground plagued with delays takes some getting use to but almost there. Also, can I also suggest that the majority of British people out there make more of an effort to work straight? British people tend to walk like crabs or in in the middle of a walk way with little consideration for others behind them. Watch where you are going Londoners. Stop using your mobile when walking/ driving (yes, despite the change in the law, Londoners are still determined to drive with one arm on the wheel and the other on the phone). This would definitely make the place a better place to live and work. We have enough people. Just a kind suggestion. Finally, we are looking at the rest of Europe and are looking more at the environment and how to recycle etc. About bloody time. The Germans are 15 years ahead of us.
NEW SECURITY FOR REGISTRATION PROCESS
We are pleased to announce that we have now updated the registration page with a security code. This will minimise the amount of pests referred to as spammers who ruin the Internet for all. We are also introducing more monitoring.

BACK FROM 3 WEEK BREAK
Yes, some of the the Facegreet team are now back from a 3 week break and back in London. We have been thinking about a few things we need to add and improve on the site and now we are back we can concentrate on this. Spammers be advised that we hate you at Facegreet and do not tolerate spammers in any form and will be making a lot of changes to combat this and people that destroy the web for all. It is a shame that some people simply have nothing better to do and need to resort to desperate measures to get known. The photos section needs a major upgrade an you will be able to add loads of photo some time this year. Sorry we can not give a definite date but we all have jobs as well tha takes our time but we promise a lot of changes are coming.

Please be advised that early September we will be making some changes to Facegreet which include a more secure method of registering. From September, when you register you will need to enter an email address and will be emailed a code in order to use the site. We have had our fair share of spammers out there and believe me these people are annoying and really need to get a life. The fact is, it is this spam which is destroying the Internet as we know it and Facegreet will be making a lot of changes to track and block pests.
We also plan to introduce ecards that you send your friends or Facegreet members. These include ecards for various occasions. We are going to start off with just a few and then take it from there. Some may be animated although we're no sure yet. We also plan to allow you to create a photo album and think this will be a good feature to have when we asked a few people.
Keep coming back to Facegreet and you may notice even more changes if we do not get side tracked and thanks for your support so far!

Hope you all like the video clip page which is a new feature that shows you what our members have on their profile in terms of clips.
We're also looking into changing the registration process so that you get a code sent to you by email which you need to activate in order to log into the site. Well, it has been a busy period for Facegreet. We have a few things we would like to add to the site. This is the beta release of the site and we have had to think of a few more things we need to add. Usernames will now be resticted to numbers and letters only. This is because we have had a few people enter email addresses as a username on purpose which is not good. Shame people like this exist but that's life and we always have stupid people that ruin it for everyone. We are considering taking away best web site as well as we are having to remove links that we feel are not entirely suitable for the site. The about you page will also be updated and we are thinking of adding an email confirmation registration page. We are also going to add the option to email you when you get a new message and rating. SITE LIVE
Well. It did take a while but I am glad to say that the site is now live! It has only been live a while and special thanks to Aplus who provided a great service. It tool less than half an hour to get the site up on their servers. We ust admit though that the site was ready to go live ad has been for a while although there is still so much to do. Aplus.net are great and allow you to speak to them using live chat 24/7/365. I took 5 minutes after payment to access FTP and upload files. You would never get this level of service in the UK! Not in a million years which is a real shame.
Anyway, enough about our hosting company, we should be promoting facegreet. Sign up and start browsing now before we start charging people! :-)

MORE STUFF DONE
Right. Had some time off so pretty much completed the search engine with a number of options to make most of you happy. I particularly like the photo gallery for showing photos only with less detail. I've also added some code to count the number of times each member logs into Facegreet. Nothing special but some of you might like this. If not, let me know. I've also improved a few things and have added some more information to the assist/help page including tips and what to do. Enjoy the new changes...
PRIVATE MESSAGING
Facegreet intend to update the message system to use rich text so you can actually get a preview of what is on the screen before you send a message. A lot of sites are now using this system so Facegreet will do the same. We are have coded this already and plan to make the changes to the liver server later this year although we have no specific date at present.
MORE CHANGES
Okay. Popups for new messages has been completed. It's not flash popups which slide into the screen which is what we were after but it works as it should. Password prompts for updating your account and profile settings has completed. We are sure you will like this added security to avoid others changing your personal details. Now, if you think it was changed by someone you only have yourself to blame if there is an error. I am sure you'll welcome these changes and as usual Facegreet is dedicated in making the site better for our members.
FURTHER UPDATES
You'll be glad to learn that I have fixed the options to block ALL members from Signing Guest Books, sending you a private message or rating you. I do mean "everyone" here. In other words you can sign up to the site and create your profile and have your profile available for others to see but they won't be able to do anything like rate you, email you or sign your guest book. Why? Because I think you should our members should have the option to choose. The default option is to have these settings to off of course. You can also enable or disable the feature to display your email address. Personally, I would not want to show my email to others for the world to see but some members might so it's there as an option. Easy when you know and only took a fe minutes to implement and tested successfully. Here at Facegreet we are dedicated to giving our members the freedom to do what they want so think having this flexibility is good. We are now working on displaying popups for new messages. Annoying option we feel but again some might like it. The rating system has also been improved for those that want to use it. Overall ratings are also available.
UPDATES
I have been playing around with ratings which has been improved. Report abuse has also been added. You can always block members but this is a further step in stopping people ruining Facegreet so was a welcome addition. Stuff to come include a chat system (maybe) as I am not sure If I want one really, there's always MSN and most poeple prefer MSN anyway. Send in your comments.(y)

I've updated the site a little but it has been hard to find the time. I have added a report abuse page to get people playing up kicked off. I don't fancy having people being silly using the site and using it for advertising or being rude etc. The site is all about fun and there is no need so the abuse report page was important. I've also added to the rating system to add the previous vote and a link to the profile etc. Little touches like this I think really add to a site. Generally, I ant to polish up the site and have more checks etc and more content. There are a lot of sites that are similar so I need to think of something unique and I have a few ideas. These will come later. Facegreet is on par wit a lot of sites out there so it needs to get better. If you have any suggestions then post them to me. They would be most welcome. Thanks!

I've made a few changes as I have had a couple of days off which you will quite like. Changes include the rating page which now displays members that have voted for you. The profile page has been improved with graphs for your ratings and also help icons with information and I'm quite happy with this for now. All is coming together and working. The remaining checks are for the new message pages before sending out emails and the search members page which will be done very soon. The site will go live in Feb 2006 (this is the plan anyway) so I am trying hard to find the time to do what needs to be done. Major updates include these important checks and also vigorous testing. It all takes a lot of time ;-)
BACK WITH SOME MAJOR UPDATES
You will be glad to know that there will be some major updates coming soon. I have fixed the password update form so it now works. I will also fix blocking messages, the buddy list which will check for duplicate and usernames that do not exist in the database. Not hard, it is just finding the time to have this done. It will work using the same principle as the change password page which works a treat. The site isn't live yet as I want it to all work before doing this. I've got a domain name as you may have guessed named FACEGREET.COM which I think is quite neat. There is just soooo much work to be done. So many things to check and also test. BTW, a chat system will be available soon. It is one of those things I think is missing. Forums has been created by myself but taken away as is various things like submit pages etc. I might bring them back one day.

MAJOR UPDATES ON THE WAY...
Yes. After a few months break from web stuff I am back with a few more ideas, fixes and additions to the site. I've got some inspiration from a few web sites out there which have been very impressive in design and development but can't mention the URLs in case you leave ;-). No matter because give me some time and I will get there and will have some of my own ideas as well. Watch this space. Work is the only thing stopping me at the moment from moving quicker.
2MB CONNECTION
Yeseree, I now have 2MB broadbank link and what a difference it makes to browsing the web. I managed to get a free upgrade after chasing my ISP as priority was given to new customers only and us loyal old customers were left in the dark. All about business I suppose but I finally got the upgrade. It means I might be able to host my site going forward.

If you're interested with some of the Flash stuff I've done a few years ago, look at this. here The links and Guest book don't work as this is just a temporary site until this is finished but they ALL did work including the Guest book which used an ASP backend. I'm interested in SQL and ASP these days. Would u like to see more Flash on this site? Let me know.
DURAN DURAN CONCERT
Went to a Duran Duran concert in Birmingham for the long weekend and before everyone laughs, it was an excellent live show. The guys have still got what it takes and I was more surprised than most. The new guy that plays the guitar is amazing as well. Got the T-shirt but won't wear it in public though unless it's down at the local gym:-)
COMING SOON TO WEBFUNK
Loads of things to come to WebFunk. This includes:
☺ Updates to the Forum allowing you to upload your own avatars, signatures. The ability to block users from sending you messages will also be implemented. The Forum will also include categories like other forums out there, posts by users and their rating (which is dependent on posts). Rather than going for an existing Forum out there, WebFunk wants to bring you their own coded version and this takes time so please be patient.
☺ An updatable ticker on the home page. This will be like the news section but include major announcements to be done on admin page.
☺ An Asp chat system with out using Java. Similar to the Blogger but will allow yout to chat to anyone on the site
☺ Who is logged in page showing members logged in, guests and maybe even the page they are viewing and duration on line. An online/offline status will also be implemented later
☺ Loads of new pics and movies. Probably using Flash although most likely just media player/Quicktime. It makes things easier for user i think
☺ A Smut filter to avoid people sending nasty messages on board, blogger etc. Not hard to do really
☺ Search engine with advanced options to search for username, key words etc.
☺ A tutorial section for ASP, Flash and maybe even some downloadable stuff like buttons etc
☺ More rating systems! Pretty much like the one on the member profile section. ☺ need to stop users rating again though!
☺ I am a big fan of css so I'd like to provide users with a menu option to change the theme of the web site. Stuff like background color, styles etc. Nice idea!

I really need to get more into CSS. it's not that difficult and can totally change your web site and design. I'll have a few menu options with names for the various changes. I'll include everything in an include file in the same way as this site works. If anyone has got any tips, let me know.;-)
MP3 PLAYER. ISSUES?
The MP3 player, created in Flash used an XML file for its updated tracks.... which requires a dedicated server so only I can play the tracks at the moment. Sorry guys! It will work as soon as the site goes live. I'm trying to sort out someone to host. These guys look good and cheap

CANON IXUS 700 BOUGHT
I just purchased a Canon Ixus 700 digital camera with 1GB SD memory. VERY nice camera with loads of features and very slick design. None of that restriction when it comes to recording movies either like previous models. Expect some very impressive photos and movies soon! I now need to sell my old FujiFilm MX 1700 camera with 64MB Smart Media card! Bought it in 1999 as it was the best camera back then when 1.5MB was totally acceptable. Took about 800 photos when visited Brazil (see photos section on home page). Any bids? Give me a shout otherwise it's going on Ebay with my Sony digital camcorder. I do like my gadgets! About £70 I think?
ADMIN PAGE
Got my admin page fully working today. This includes changing all member details including their username and password. Not all that difficult really. Now, I'd like to monitor the IP Address and ban this for some of those nasty users trying to re-register! I've even got this news section admin page done so I can add new entries, delete and even update from anywhere when I'm logged in as an administrator. Those posts are coming!!!
MP3 FLASH PLAYER
Okay, it's a lovely bank holiday Monday so I'm not spending my time on this site. Off to meeto someone but the good news is that the Flash MP3 player is available to use. Design could be better but it will do for now. Play on the home page or if you want to browse, click the link and it will open the player in a popup window. You can't ask more than that! Almost 30 great tracks to listen to. Enjoy!!!!! I think I will work on a Flash media player going forward. A good link is http://www.wimpyplayer.com/ I didn't download a Wimpy version but maybe you should as they're great! I'll get some ideas from them.
MP3 PLAYER TO BE AVAILABLE SOON

I'm working on a Flash MP3 player which should be available soon. The home page will have a Flash player for playing a list of songs chosen by myself. However, the good news is that a player, similar to Winamp, will also be available to download so you can select the tracks you like. This is still work in progress and will be available as soon as I am happy all is working and tested. It's hard to fidn the time but look out for it. I might even have a number of skins available. Who knows... but don;t hold your breath.
